How do you envision the healings Jesus offered during his life compare with the healing he offers us through his own death? (Matthew 8:14-22)

It's interesting that Jesus healed so many, but didn't eliminate sickness. I've heard a lot about faith healing - some more dramatic or more credible than others, and even though Jesus does not say yes to all who ask for healing - He is sufficient in all things - especially suffering. I'm dissapointed when I hear sermons about healing when the message doesn't also speak to when we find out there won't be a healing this time. I haven't had the kind of devastating illness that Jesus cured in the bible so I can't speak first hand - but I did get to see the smile from my little sister a week before she passed - and she was in a whole lot of pain - it's a lot easier for me to understand His Sufficiency because of that moment. Still...the Healing we get by His Death is so much better - life forever is so much better than a few more years. I got to see her smile - in my heart I could see Jesus take her to our Father and laugh again.

I appreciate your words. Well said. There is a maturity that develops as we wrestle with the tough issues like the mystery of God's timing in healing or lack there of. Why has God chosen to heal our son, Noah's heart, several times, but does not physically heal others? I don't know, but I am thankful every day. Sometimes I am glad we don't have all the answers, because I believe we would trivialize the power of God. Magnificence lies in the mystery... at least for me. Blessings-
