When have you had fruitful experiences of prayer and when have you had frustrating ones?

I've had prayeres answered - the ones I stuck with for a while. It took a long time for my prayers to understand an know that I really believed; it was so logical that God exists on an intellectual basis, but I yearned to accept hem emotionally as well. This was one of the miracles in my life - when He blessed me with that emotional confidence that He is for real and He wants an ongoing relationship with me. The other personal answer was again over time - it was to really understand how to be a cheerful giver - the answer wasn't as sudden, but it was so neat to "catch" the joy of giving - and the best part was after that - it never occurred to me that to pray that both my wife and I want to get that joy together - finding out that she feel the same was a double blessing.

The frustrating experiences have been the experiences when the answer has been " no". Just seeing all the suffering and what horrible, cruel things we do to each other and what agonies some have had to endure - things we accept He will turn to good - but that aren't easy to accept and even harder to share with others without appearing foolish. I have to rely on Jesus to do the work when the most helpful act I can muster is to draw alongside and cry with you.
