When you have been sinned against, what is the difference between saying “It didn’t really matter,” and genuine reconciliation? (Matthew 18:15-35)

“It really didn’t matter” can be a way to sidestep confrontation while genuine reconciliation gets to the heart of the matter where genuine forgiveness can be found. The former can also be a way of knowingly or unknowingly holding on to past grievances possibly building a wall between the true forgiveness of God and a shallow horizontal forgiveness that leaves us open to hurt and guilt.

and yet the true reconciliation can be so hard! But because of God's never ending love and grace, we come out better on the other side.

The term “Hard” does not do the idea of reconciliation justice. Think of what it took to reconcile man back to God. When we begin to understand this we will begin to understand true reconciliation.

very true. similar to the term 'love' being difficult to understand... perhaps understanding God's example of reconciliation with us will help us understand how to reconcile with each other...
