The parable in Matthew 20:1-16 illustrates some God priorities that are different than human priorities. What have you learned so far in Matthew about this difference?

God’s ways are not man’s ways. What man lifts up God tears down, what man tears down God lifts up. I think possibly this is why in the past Christianity has flourished among the poor and downtrodden. It gives us a sure hope. This is what troubles me in our country today. As people are turning away from Christianity they are beginning to turn to other sources for hope. I am thinking of the postmodern Spiritual but not religious group in the spiritual realm and the tendency towards socialism in the secular realm.

Good thoughts. But interestingly, Christianity is still thriving among the poor and down trodden in many third world countries. I'm pondering why that is the case there but not here.

Possibly a worldview difference? In other countries they still rely on God for their sustenance, in America they rely on the government. When the government can no longer rob from the rich and give to the poor people may be forced to look up again.............

and again, we circle back to the fact that the government started doing the things the church was meant to do whent he church stopped doing them...
